How we evaluate software.

Read our proposed ranking method, evidence standards, and promotion policy. Editorial scores are not yet published.

Research first. Scores after evaluation.

Listings are researched from vendor pages, not hands-on product tests. Alphabetical order is not a ranking. SHL scores are not yet available. Community ratings reflect moderated reviews from email-confirmed contributors. Paid placement never changes an editorial score. Fucira is run by the same people who run SHL; its showcase is an affiliated promotion.

Proposed school software rubric

  • School workflow fit: 25%
  • Usability and implementation: 20%
  • Value and cost transparency: 20%
  • Integrations and data portability: 15%
  • Documented privacy, security, and accessibility capabilities: 15%
  • Support and maintenance: 5%

We will test and calibrate this rubric before publishing scores. AI building tools need a separate rubric. Community reviews will remain separate from editorial scores.
